passing B.A.R.... ECU harness adapter obd 2 -> obd 1 ok to use??? (CALI members, help)
I did a search for legal ecu harness adapter and i didn't get a specific answer.
Anyway, planning to do an OBD2 swap in a 95 dx hatch, will it be an issue (for visual) to use a obd2 to obd 1 adapter ? is it ok to use one of these or will it be a trip back home with no BAR sticker?
thanks!

you can run a newer motor in an older car your just not supposed to run an older motor in a newer car, so i don't think going from obd-I to obd-II shouldnt be a big deal. cause obd-II has a higher emissions standard than obd-I, good luck on finding out 100% on the leagality of this but im 99% sure its this way.

yeah i dont know if i should just stick with obd1 engines. it'll be my first swap, so id like to make the job as smooth as possible. i just dont know if using an adapter harness would pass the inspection.
any other ideas? anybody?
thanks!

you can not use any adapter to pass b.a.r period.
besides you will have to use the obd2 ecu anyway (because they will check your ecu) so you will have to wire your obd1 car to obd2 specs if your swapping an obd2 engine. and dont forget the data port that will have to be wired in aswell.
and this has been covered in all the swap articles many times in the archive.
ofcoarse this only applies if your in california and going to the state bar. other states are different
