Partial Gauge cluster Swap

Partial Gauge cluster Swap
I have found a EDM del sol gauge Cluster from a VTEC sol so it has a redline of 8k. However, the speedo is in KPH.
My freind is pretty good with electronics and had some good gauges from a gauge cluster that was all messed up, and a gauge cluster that was good, but the gauges were craped up (they were old white face gauges) and he was able to swap them with no problem and his Gauge cluster was good as new.
So What I want to do is Use the EDM guage cluster with my speedometer gauge so that way I have my legit millage, and it's all in MPH but now have a gauge that reads to 9500 RPM. Will this work? Will My speedometer read the right speed?

If you want to just put the USDM Speedo gauge in the EDM cluster, you can just swap them out. The mechanical part of the speedo just knows what is being sent to it, it isn't going to adjust from Mph to Kph, or vise versa.

Hehe, if you put the USDM gauge in the cluster, and you are going 60mph, it will read 60 mph. All the wiring is doing is sending the signal, the gears on the gauge are converting it into a reading.

Re: (92b16vx)
I have the jdm cluster and I just memorized all of the "basic" speed limits, etc.
41.5kmh is 25mph
58.1kmh is 35mph
and so on and so forth. KPH = MPHx1.66

Screw that, if there is a cop tailing me, I don't want to waste time and worry if I got my conversions right. Standard Measurements suck, Metric Owns but since the rest of the US does not see that, I have to live with standard. (Quick, get me a wrench bigger then 3/4ths) The nice and easy 12mm, 13mm is much nicer.

i have a canadian cx hatch.
i bought a usdm cluster with tach.
swapped out the center speedo so i kept the km/h and it truly does read in km/h.
Speed is caluclated from the tranny i belive so not to worry, swap away!

Nope, its done inside the gauge, in the gearing, that's why people can swap JDM, EDM, whatever gauges into their USDM civics and retain a correct speed, RPM, whatever, becaue the individual gauge does it.
