Congrats! you are the VERY FIRST PERSON to ever make a post about painting their valve cover!
The paint to use when painting a valve cover is Krinkle paint. Krylon and VHT makes these products. you can get the Krylon brand at some auto parts stores but i've yet to see the VHT on the shelf. try looking at Summit Racing's website.
If you don't want paint on the VTEC or whatever, get some chapstick or that thick jelly stuff and apply a generous amount onto the letters using a q tip (chapstick, just do it like doing lips). after you're done painting it, wipe the chapstick or jelly off the letters and BAM! you got yourself some JDM blingin letters
again, congradulations on being the VERY FIRST PERSON to ever make a thread about painting valve covers

Re: Painting Valve Covers (cxSHOE)
i painted mine with the krinkle paint then i used some scotch brite and just rubbed all the paint off, it helped to take the tarnish off the letters and looked really good.

A friend used some Hi-Temp semi gloss black paint and it turned out pretty good. He just took a grinder with a wire brush to the letters after, but it would be easier with chapstick or a similar method. If anyone has some pics of using the krinkly paint, i would like to see! By the way, i had never seen a post on this. Never looked either, but.... oh well.

Re: Painting Valve Covers (vballer805)
I used high-temp engine paint for mine.
I taped off the spark plug holes and the oil cap threads. Then I sprayed it with 3 coats of paint.
After it dried, I peeled the tape off and took my dremel to the letters. I lightly sanded just the paint off the letters. I think it looks better this way than it does if you try to mask the letters off or put chapstick on them or whatever. It's way faster to just paint them and then sand the paint off.
I also made sure to prep the surface by cleaning really well and scuffing the surface up a bit with steel wool.
By the way, the paint is grey but for some reason it looks blue in my garage lighting.

Re: Painting Valve Covers (EJ1 wilcox)
you can get it sandblasted or use aircraft stripper to remove the paint on it, then what i did was use duplicolors metalcast paint you need the primer, base coat, then paint coat, then to get the metal surface on the letters i just, as soon as the paint hardened but was still sticky, i took a razor and scraped off the paint, just be careful not to dig in or slice into the letters, you can also use vasalene too. theres some pix on the website in my sig on how my valve cover came out...
