Painting my Interior.
I am going to paint the interior of my 93 EX, and I wanted to know if I have the right plan to do it. First take the parts off, then sand them, then primer, next like 3 layers of paint, and then a clear coat. using this method what kind of paint should I get so it last's forever and ever. Thanks.

Yes, and no paint is gonna last for ever on it, plastic is not ment to be painted. It will chip in the long run and look like crap. I have done it before and I regreted and painted it all back to stock color.

do not paint it if you plan on staying on honda tech, i once wanted my painted interior and body kits i come here and i realized what real good looking import were and body kits and painted inteiors are not the interior will just chip and fade cause the material is ment to keep stains off and paint is sorta like a stain so it wont soak in correctly but i guess if your going to do it anyways there is the stuff called bulldog flex in a purple bottle that you mix in with paint and this will help stop chipping

Just prepare the parts right before you paint them, and make sure you use a felxible paint meant for plastic. And don't go overboard on what you decide to paint or you'll be Fast and the Furious style.

if your gona do it take your time and i mean take your time.... spray thin layers of general purpose primer....till it's evenly coated...then spray small layers of the paint....put tons of clearcoat on to prevent chipping...or you could spend some more money and get dye... they have it at my local performance shop and just dye the plastic and it will never chip or scratch off...but if i were you i would stay stock that's what i did with this car .... nothing is better than a shiny black dash looks classy not ricey like some paint jobs look.... consider the stock look you won't regret it....and plus if you plan on selling your car not everyone wants painted dash...depreciates the value...good luck...

Re: Painting my Interior.
i painted my entire interior. It's been about 2 months and it's perfect, i used krylon spray paint, krylon premier, and clear coat. Best thing to do is clean thoose panels, etc, really well. Then pop them in the oven, or get a heat gun. Heat up all the parts, then put on your premier coat, parts should be 'warm' then let dry, get some steel wool, and start rubbing, it will get silky smooth. Then hit it with your paint, i use very very thin layers. 10+ coats, then start with a thin coat of clear acrilic. Also.. if your doing your dash, you don't need to take it out, it's the bi*ch to take out/in, just tape off.

There was a post on here by Spade I believe about a spray dye that he used on his seats that apparently worked out pretty well, try looking for that.

dont do it dude, if youre gonna get it painted, then just have it professionally done. i had my dash professionally painted, and the rest of my interior done in vinyl. and to tell you the truth, i dont like it at all. id just stick with stock interior and racing seats. IMO

well i understand where you guys are coming from. The main reason i wanted to do it was becuase I have scratches and **** from my switch and other areas. What would be a good way to get rid of all this and keep the car clean looking.

What color is the stock interior ? If its black, just by some black spray paint. If its grey, try to color match it the best.

I did this when I was 16... because 1.) I had no money 2.) I was bored 3.) ricer wasnt a word yet.
The paint chipped and faded. (eventually)
Looking into "dying" the pieces somehow. Thats how the pros do it.

Well I painted my door panels like 1 year ago, and up till today paint is still on it, and no chips! What you have to do is:
1. clean the pieces that your painting very well, with some alcohol
2. rinse it off good, and then wipe it off
3. use scuffing pad to scuff the pieces, til they get smooth
4. shoot some primer on
5. let it dry, for one hour or more
6. start applying paint to it, little by little, don't be in a rush!
7. scuff out any imperfections
8. apply clear coat, a couple layers should do
9. install pieces
One thing to do is not to get cheap paint!
At home depot they have 99 cents paint, dont get that!
get the expensive primer and paint, they will stick very good and last long time!
I'll post some pics of my door panels, if you guys don't believe me.
How's painting your interior considered Rice?
Hey as long as your happy who cares if your a ricer or not!
