if theres no paint just take some wax and grease remover and clean it up. make sure its high temp paint. also make sure to use primer first before spraying your color. i did this about two months ago.

x2

To take it off just use a good stripper. (paint stripper that is)

you don't even have to use high temp paint. i used a can of regular gloss red rustoleum from walmart. do use something along the lines of aircraft paint stripper, or sandblast it though like was already said.

with mine i had access to a sandblaster so i went that route. then i thoroughly cleaned it out in a parts washer and dried/removed any remaining sediment with compressed air. after that i used a generic grey primer, and once dry i sprayed down a couple coats of color. nothing fancy by any means but it came out pretty nice. the last 2 pics are from when i sold it and it had been on the car for a couple thousand miles. as you can see the paint held up fine and i noticed no change from the time i installed it till when i sold it.
