Default Painted Sidemolding/Sideskirts How much $$?

*Mod, if you don't feel this belongs here feel free to move to appearance*

I'm looking to paint the sidemoldings and stock sideskirts on my 95 Civic Coupe frost white. The problem is I'm getting raped everywhere I go for a quote (All around $250). I know urethane isn't easy to paint but they are all telling me its nearly impossible to get to stick. I know some EK's come with it paint matched from the factory so its obviously possible.

For those who have paint matched theirs, I was just wondering where you guys got yours done and how much it cost you to have done?

Thanks in advance.

Do you think I could sand and primer the sidemoldings while they are still on the car? I tried to remove a piece of them once and the 10 year old clips that hold them on didn't feel like putting up with it . It would just be easier to not take them off IMO.

probably, but i would have them sanded/primered AND painted off the car, that way there is no chance of overspray, and you get better coverage on the moldings. definitally take them off, clips are cheap.

Can I just buy them from a honda dealership?
Sorry about all the questions, I'm new to this painting stuff.

IMO better off taking it off the car its real easy and takes about 10 minutes to get them all off.

you don't need to sand the moldings or sideskirts. Just use a good grease/wax remover for a good mating surface. LIttle bit of primer, then the paint. Best way to do it would be get your factory color mixed and put in a spray can at your local PPG paint supplier. It's urethane single stage and wll be the factory color and a good finish.

Hmm do you think that would hold up just as well as if I got it painted at Maaco or a similar place? I'm a little bit weary of painting it myself. And on the no sanding point, wouldn't the paint adhere better to a sanded surface?

I have Frost white EG when i got it i Had ugly *** Black side molding which had to go so i bought me some "Klean Strip Virgin Lacquer Thinner QLW202" which suppose to make tinny holes "non Visible' and removes wax/grease too (makes the paint stick) then i painted it with some Spray Paint and gloss coat that i bought from AutoZone well i bought all of it from there.

I did it 2 yrs ago and never chipped on me or nothing.

Cost $20 with Gas and a pack of Cig.
