P72 JDM automatic to manual? It can be done?
Hey guys I have a EM1 and I swap engines for a B18C GSR JDM automatic. The enigne is perfect, the only problem or concern is if there is any possibility to change the ECU from automatic to manual?.... Any word on that? Can it be done local? It is simple?...

Re: (Relic1)
mmmm, by changing that the computer will work as an manual ECU????... Where I can find a resistor to replace the RP18? Are they hard to find?
By the way, the B18C GSR on EM1 body works great.... Right now I am using a OBDI to OBDII converter and a P30ECU and works great...
The reason of my question is because I want to use the P72 OEM ECU from JDM!!!!, maybe it will work better!!!

it will work a lot better with the P72, the P30 doesn't open the IAB butterflies in the intake mani, and is running it lean. (1.6L vs 1.8L)
So you're getting a lot less power than you should and risking engine damage.
as far as the resistor, if you're creative with mounting it... sometimes a 1.5k ohm radio shack part can be used.
If the CEL19 still pops up try a 1K radio shack resistor.
some ECUs don't mind the higher resistance, some like the lower.
all of them like 1.4k but they are hard to find if you don't have a really good electronics parts store in your area.
(the radio shack resistors are $0.99 for a pack of 5)

Re: (Relic1)
So just taking out the RP18 (2.4) and installing in place another (1.4) then is done??? Goood!!!!!
My mechanic, already make a change and plug the IAB in to vacuum... hehehe... About the lean well I am using a VAFC... hehehe But Again I think use the ECU from the engine is the best option.
well now I have to find the piece in internet do you have some ideas where start to find?... Ebay or amazon???' Pack of 5 well 5 times for try hehehehe...

finding a 1$ part on line, where the chipping doesn't cost you 10 times the part's cost is going to be a trick.
Digikey.com or newark.com are great places to get the genuine part you need. But the shipping and handling is going to suck.
If you'd like, I could send you the parts you'd need.
the USPS says it costs $0.90 to send a letter to you, if you cover that and the $1.98 for the two packs of parts.... I should be able to get a 1.4k ohm for you that will fit perfectly in that location. that way you can be 100% sure it will work the first time.
I'm not looking to make any money, just helping you out since you can't go around the corner to a Radio Shack.

they didn't notice that you said it's San Jose Costa Rica and not Cali.
Radio Shack is an electronics store that carries parts like this and are all over the US. Not so for other countries.

Sure, do not worry. By the way we have radioshack the only thing is that they are not so specific, they just sold minor things... Very commercial...
