P30 and P28
My friend has a delsol SiR II
and now he is asking me: I got P30 obd-2 ecu on my car, should i still look for a P28?
I didnt know what to tell him, so I said its better if I creat a topic here and ask the question because you guys helped me a lot through my questions.

p28 p06 p08 etc. they can be used in the same car. just depends how the ecu is setup. i loved my Supra, so did the 3 DAMN engines it went through.

So your friend has a real right hand drive Del sol Sir II? If so then it has a B16A and it's run by a P30.
P06 runs the D15B7 engine, which also happens to be in the base model Del Sol.

USDM P28 and P30's are equally good ECU's. P30 would be better on an OBD1 B16 motor for obvious reasons, but if your looking to chip it, either one works well. JDM P30's can't be chipped, due to the short ECU box.

Re: (...civic...)
oh yea.. HUGE increase over stock
and im not 100% sure on the differnces between the sohc and dohc ecus...
i just dont see why a sohc ecu (not chipped) would make any power increase on a dohc motor.. i think it would just decrease power.. maybe somone can clear it up??

okay look stock p28 with a dohc is going to run crappy as heck redline shorter, running lean... man its programed for a sohc it will kill the meaning of dohc. it will still run fine but why run it if you have a perfectly good ecu meant for the b16?
<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by e gee two »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">it doesnt really matter what ecu you have when it gets chipped. oh and sooner or later you'll want to chip it. </TD></TR></TABLE>
sorry had to quote myself i didnt feel like typing it over. chip p28 is a whole lot better but like it says you can chip any ecu to do anything you want. so it really doesnt matter what kind of ecu you have as long as its not automatic. well you can stiill chip a auto ecu into a 5 speed there are certain things you have to modify... take to long to describe. pretty much run the p30 that the motor came with if you're going to run a sohc ecu such as the p28 or the p06 chip it or else dont use it at all.

there's a good place to get one for a good price. thats where i got mine from

Re: (...civic...)
Keep the P30 stock and Get a p28 that you can get "chipped" when you have the car tuned to match your parts combo. Use a system like hondata for flexibility. Either way have two ecu's and keep the P30 stock if you every it need it or just sell it to me! Good Luck
