Default p2e ecu with ls b18b?

so my car is jimmyrigged to hell, i thought the p2e was for a non vtec sohc motor, anyways i got it out today and I have a b18b in my 1998 civic si(canada) and the p2e ecu..
i have an engine light dont have a reader right now..
is this alright with this computer, how many o2 sensors should i have and that stuff?

If you have to do emissions testing, get an OBD2 P75, I'm sure you could get one fairly cheap. Even a P28 won't run a B16 correctly even though both are for 1.6 liter VTEC motors. So a 1.6 liter SOHC ecu can't possibly be close for a 1.8 liter DOHC.

I'd suggest just getting an OBD1 P75 since you can use it as is, go down to one O2 sensor, no knock sensor, and if you want to go turbo or anything, you can just chip that and use it.

I'll look into a p75, i have no emissions testing to pass, Will anything need to be rewired off the engine harness to ecu, as i notice the previous owner have some wires switched around, If i get an obd2-obd1 connector i would be good to go?

You have the wrong ecu alright....a sohc vtec 1.6L ecu won't run a non vtec 1.8L properly

Just use an LS ecu and call it a day. Since you have not mentioned what kind of car you have, i can't tell you which of the LS ecu's is plug and play

Probley drive it like this till i get the money for a b18c.

Hmmm. Two things come to mind. I have no idea why you are throwing that cel....^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

And two you are getting a GSR motor and you think the GSR will like the ghetto wiring? I would get a OBD1 p75, some shrink wrap, and a solder gun. Get that P75 running your motor fine and your wiring harness right...and then when it comes time you will have enough electrical knowledge to chip your own ecu (and save money) and then have someone throw in a GSR basemap for your new engine; your GSR (or LS for now) will make love to you...and be able to actually run right.

The way you are going now you better be prepared to buy that GSR engine because the lean air/fuel mixture from a SOHC will kill you in the end.

Oh and just throwing this out there...if you are hard for money...A P06 is a nice ECU to chip, is very cheap, and once the LS basemap is on it will run ****!

No.. I plan on getting full swap along with engine harness and ecu.
If i can find a ls ecu around cheap i'll pick it up, but there is not many in my province.
I have been alittle hard on this ls, which im pissed off about I never checked the ecu till now. Had my cluster apart as i noticed the engine light didnt even come on for even 1 sec with the key, so yeh i knew right then the engine light bulb was pulled out.

Jesus. Well why not take care of the problem now instead of putting it off. Just chip a ecu and you won't have to but another one. That was what I was saying. I hate iPhone typing LOL

Lol I am looking for a p75 ecu, Im not gonna worry about chipping a p28 or anything right now, I plan on driving it for another few months and getting a jdm gsr put in.
Plan on going obd1 as I may end up also turboing the gsr.

Check out your local junkyards. I've gotten P28s for $25 before. Your cheapest bet may be getting a non-vtec ecu and converting it using the SK5151 transistors or whatever they are that you can find in OBD2 ECUs, or extra ones from automatic ECUs if you convert them to manual.

If you are considering turboing it, I'd suggest just getting A P28 or P06 and a Moates Ostrich or Hondata. Hondata is getting cheaper, like $450 or so new for S300. It is THE best thing. The Ostrich lets you run Chrome or other tuning software and it's the cheapest good way of doing it since you can update on the fly....and I'm trying to sell one...

Thanks that sounds good, right now im just searching for a p75 obd2, i gotta make a 6000km trip with it in a few weeks so i dont want it running lean the whole time.
Pretty annoyed at this car, only reason i got it tho was it was in awsome shape body wise, paints faded but no rust. Whoever put this motor in is an idiot and i'd love to punch them in the face lol. Was missing the lower torque mounts, engine harness is trashy, and when i found this ecu in it I almost lost it lol.

Hondata for boost. S300 is now me hundred off $495 new. Crome for cheap boost. S300 allows for boost by gear, has USB datalogging, etc. Spendy but orth it for boost. Without boost anything works. Uberdata Crome probably even opensource megasquirt LOL
