Default P28 vs other ecu's??

I have been wondering about above question for a while, and since a similar question was asked here I thought to ask.

I have h22 swapped eg with p13 ecu.
I do have a CEL for egr, and since that's very annoying, I am going to get a different ecu, since it seems very difficult, if not impossible, to chip p13.

chipped P28 seems to be a popular choice, but I thought when chipped, and converted, it didn't really matter what it started as. But then I noticed some sellers were marketing that their ecu was genuine p28, not some converted bs. They were a bit more expensive as well.

Am I missing something here, or would it be fine for me to save a few bucks and go with something else that has been converted and chipped to work with my set up?

Thanks in advance..

It doesn't really matter as long as it can be socketted and chipped and even converted from auto or VTEC. I'm running a converted P06 right now.

Pretty much. P06s and P28s use identical boards, the P06 just lacks the vtec components. The only thing I will say is if you have vtec engagement issues on a chipped and converted P06 check the ECU before you do much other digging around. I've got a converted P06 here that throws a CEL 21 and it's the ECU, not sure exactly what it is, other than it isn't the 5151S transistor. Btw, if you're doing the conversion yourself '94 - '95 automatic P06s are the easiest/cheapest, they use the same 5151S transistor for controlling the auto tranny so you can just move it and reuse it for vtec, and they're a slightly easier board to chip besides that.
