help on computer choice on my si
for 550 installed with jumper harness. a good deal?? another mech is trying to give me a p28 with mugen programming for 600. but MY mech says the type r is way better for me...
also, would this make a difference noticeable in my car? its a 92 jdm b16a obd1 engine but i have a p2p stock 99 si obd2 computer. mechanic tells me i will run ALOT better and stop bogging so much.
(reason why i got a 92 b16 in my 99 si is kuz it was recently was stolen and my engine was one of a long list of pasts gutted... i then picked up the shell plus the motor pretty cheap.)

well if you have all the sensors hooked up, i dont see why your cars bogging down, has there been any other work done to the motor?

no the Crank Position Sensor is not plugged in... nowhere to plug it. i would need to get a type r oil pump to be abl to plug it. the bogging is REALLY bad. so instead of putting a new oil pump, i figure i'll go p28 which in the long run i'll get more power out of

dont you have the stock wiring harness? and thats probably your whole problem right there. i dont think the type r pump will change the position of the sensor, just boost the pressure of your oil a bit. also if your gonna go down that road, why not go with a tunable setup such as hondata or crome? do you have any check engine lights?

i have a check engine light for the CPS. amd yes it JUST may be the problem. i think its making my crrent compy go crazy! but the higher the rpms the better it gets. yes its a stock wiring harness but some things dont match up. like the TB sensors. and stuff like that. and i thought a p28 was tunable. mechanic says yeah..if not, how much could swithing it cost? i need it running ASAP. ii hate it runing like that.
either for the 550 or 600 bucks, they both say all my problems would be fixed and no CEL cept i wont pass visual. just not sure whats better. the type r map or mugen.

well you will need to get the manifold and throttle body from the 99-00 b16, and if you have already swapped oil pumps to the 99-00 pump, and have the stock harness, then your oviously looking over something. personally, i wouldnt spend the money on getting a new ecm for just a stock motor. you wont gain very much power from it. but you can get the s300 hondata for right at 600 with software, and everything you will need http://www.hondata.com/s300.html. but your stock ecm is more then enough till you start doing major modifications such as turbo.
