Default P28, mugen chip, 10K redline = disaster?

I sell stuff on ebay and i got an email from someone in france (or possibly canada, he speaks french)who has a 96-00 civic with the D16y8 engine and here is his question
hello, how many rpm can the d16y8 engine accept between broke with genuine parts, 8000, 9000, or 10000rpm please. thanks, michmobile"
My response was about 7000 rpm or so

then he asked
yes i'm ok but i want to use a p28 ecu with mugen chip with redline 10 000rpm and i want to know how many rpm can it accept before brackage? thanks, michel

What do i tell him?

Off hand what does that engine redline at, is it 6800 or 7200 ? Anyways tell him anytime he brings it above the stock redline limit he is risking the engines life. This way you can't get into any trouble even though if he does blow his engine its not really your fault. Just tell him not to go above the stock rev limiter.

I believe the stock rev limiter for that is 6800. I'm too lazy to run outside and check my tach.

Ok, I got unlazy and looked, its 6800 for sure. Tell him the stock redline is 6800 and you are in no way responsible for him taking it anywhere above that.

IMO, Tell him he needs a OBD1 motor or jumper harness to run the p.28 with that chip, and also revving to 10,000 rpm with a stock valve train is just plan stupid.....
