Re: (THC1107)
well it sees the vtec sol. but i do not belive that it is sending out the 12v signal to it when is should be kicking in.... i have tested for the 12v at opp temp and reved it to slightly before 6k and still no 12v signal to the sol.

Try revving it hard, vtec has different points for light throttle (higher). Also, try a different ecu and see if that helps (known good), then you'll know for sure if it's ecu or not.

Yeah the car must be fully warmed up and moving. The best thing to do is test the green/yellow vtec wire coming directly form the ecu while your driving.
Also if you have ANY other problems get those fixed before trying to fix vtec. Other things such as a bad signal from the coolant temp sensor can cause vtec to not work.

Re: (JDMKid71)
well what do you guys make of this? i unpluged my vtec sol while the engine was running... threw a CEL... obviously the ECU is seeing the sol. now i took a peice of jumper wire and put 12v Right to the sol while it was at idle... heard the sol kick in but nothing happend to the idle of the engine. shouldnt it have bogged down a little bit? or even died because of that extra lift at idle?

the "missing" spots in your ECU are nothing. simply a through hole in the circuit board that didn't get fully soldered shut by the manufacturing process. Not going to harm or change anything.
to put together and summarize what everyone else has said...
as far as checking for the VTEC output signal, place a 12V test light on the wire at the ECU, let the car get to operating temp and go for a drive. In second gear jam the throttle, you will see the light turn on when the ECU turns on the solenoid.

Re: (Relic1)
ok i wired the LED up to the sol wire, right at the splice near the sol itself. Nothing. let my car warm up for 15 mins then drove it for a mile and then got on it. i figured it would be up to the temp by then... nothing light never came on. so i thought maybe the wire for the light was not wired up correctly. i unhooked the harness going to the back of the ECU and stick a piece of wire in the A4 slot and put it straight to 12v. the light came on. so i have concluded that MY GOD DAMN ECU isn't working right! im going to try someone elses KNOWN GOOD ECU here in the next week when i get ahold of them or i might even convert my old P06 to vtec and chip it. Anyone have a Good P28 ECU they want to sell though? Thanks for everyones help! TJ

Re: (JDMKid71)
Ok i have come to the conclusion that my ECU Does reconize the vtec sol. but will NOT send 12v out to it. is there any known history of a driver or something going bad in the ECUs? maybe the IC14 switch went bad? i dont know... any ideas?
