Default p28 + d16 (obd2) = F'd up timing???

I recently did a headgasket job and put the car back together. Im running into the problem of having the timing all jacked up. I retarded the timing fully and its still a bit off from the set 12*. Anyone know why this is? If I remember correctly I didnt have this problem before.

Please help, I want to burn my car right now.

From what I can see it looks like it is perfect. Should I move it one more tooth towards the firewall and see if that cures it? The car ran great before the headgasket and intake manifold gasket change, now it runs like crap.

P28 is an OBD1 ecu with ignition and fuel maps for an SI.

If you try and use that ECU with your non SI motor it will run like crap. You need crome/hondata and a tune.

you are jumpering the service jumper when you check the timing right? (just checking)

the P28 will run a D16 VTEC engine well enough to make it run. tuning is a good idea but will not cause this issue.

I run uberdata on a boosted motor. The car is tuned by myself and i know the tune is fine. It ran perfect before the headgasket install and has ran for over a year.

BTW what part of goshen are you from? I have an ex girlfriend that lives out there.

And yeah i jumped the service connector.

I have ruled out the one tooth off theory. I went one tooth in both directions and the car runs like total ****. The part throttle is junk. Thing is the ignition lines match up when i move it a tooth. The cars part throttle runs fine when i have them set at my tdc at crank and cam.

So confused....

if you're running a d16y8 engine, import the d16y8 maps into crome, and burn a new chip.

the "slot" on the y8 cam is in a different position than it is on the z6 cam.
