Default p28 b16?

i just bought a b16 swapped eg and everything seems to run a ok with it and the other day i was cleaning it out and took out my floor mats and i looked at the ecu to see it was a p28.......so this confused me should there not be a pr3 or p30? and how would i find out if the p28 was chipped or mapped....

i run a chipped p28 on crome and it runs well. if your ecu wasnt chipped for a b16 your car would run like poo... and im assuming it runs fine.

pull it out, remove the cover,

look at the chip, if the chip says oki66....157 i belive?

then it is OEM

but if you find maybe a Zif socket or dip socket in place with an EEprom (crstyal visable ontop of chip) then it is chipped......with what?

don't know only way to figure it out is to dump it.........then compare/contrast the valuesand settings with known values and settings

It's more than likely chipped and tuned (if it hasn't been running like crap). If it's been sluggish or you seem to be running real rich then it's probably running a basemap. A P28 is a good thing. OBD1 FTW. Another easy way to tell is to see when VTEC kick in (usually moved during tune). If it's something besides 5500 it's been moved from stock setting.
