Oxygen sensor Idea, will it work?
I ordered the Denso universal o2 sensor off of the internet at sprkplugs.com. i just pulled the old o2 sensor off(the factory one with the plug on it). I havnt gottne mine in the mail(the ups tracking says thursday it should be here). What i am thinking is, if i cut the plug off of the o2 sensor and solder the plug onto the new sensor(matching up the wires, being careful with the 2 black ones of course) and plug it in will it be wired up right?(as in matching up the whie, green and the right black wires) any info would help on this

Well, it wasnt a question of whether or not it is a new idea, but if it was right.
So since you had the right idea thinking on your own.. I guess you can call yourself a genius for now

hey just wanted to piggy back a o2 question here. Do all generic 4 wire o2 sensors for honda work interchangably? Meaning can i take lets say a universal civic ex o2 sensor and use it on a 99si? or do d and b series use different 4 wire o2's?

Next time get a direct-fit sensor...with plug. If you shop around you won't spend much more than alot of universals are priced at.

Should work fine as long as the wire colors match.

yea it should definatley fit, just make sure that the wires match up correcly, make sure to get some good solder. bad solder can add extra unwanted resistance to the circuit and screw up your signal to the ecu. you might want to check out some weather proof crimp connectors that dont increase the resistance.

Im pretty good at soldering, i can make good, solid connections. i dont have crappy solder either so im thinking it should be fine.
Ill let everyone know how it lasts. I read things, also tlked to various ppl, about denso and even the universal ones are pretty good from what i understand
Also, why would the plug first time sensor be so much better? i know it plugs in firectly but for the savings i would want to sodler it myself, is that a good train of thought or am i the crazy one?
