Default oxygen sensor connection problem help

ok ill try and keep this short

1i have headers on my 2000 civic ex that has the o2 sensor plug at the front where it goes 4 to 2.

-i got the o2 sensor wire extention and connected it from the plug behind the manifold to the the o2 sensor and my o2 failed so i bought a new one,and reused the plug from the old o2 to the new one.(because it was cheaper without the plug)

2 i wired it and did it all correct and the code still came up

- solution i diconected the plugs and cleanned them with electrical cleaner, and reconnected the wires. code still came on

so my thinking is that the old plug is bad (since it was very dirty) and now i thinking of cutting all the plugs and soldering them together.

so... what do u guys think i can't think of any reason this wont work but still i would like to make sure thanx
