Compressed air injection instead of Leaf Blower injection

OK. I can tell from all of your nice replies that the leaf blower isnt going to work. But someone - b18c1civic to be exact - gave me a great idea. So I made i diagram...
http://www.dincoinc.com/o2intake2.jpg
Heres how it would work. You turn the knob on the pressurized air can so that it builds up pressure inbetween the valve and the can of pressurized air, then you close the can up so that you can save the rest for other times that you might want an extra boost (Or I guess you could just leave it open for some major boost that lasts a really long time). Then whenever you are driving along and you want some boost, you just hit the button, the valve opens, and all of the compressed air shoots into the engine, and you go faster. This seems like it would work pretty well to me, but if see any potential problems, or have a better idea, tell me. Thanks.

EDIT: OK - A lot of people were thinking that i was goin to shoot pure o2 into my engine, but thats not what i meant. Also, it is NOT the same as shooting nitrous into the engine. The tank is just goin to be a bunch of pressurized air, so that when it goes into the intake, it does the same thing a supercharger or a turbocharger, just not nearly as long or powerful. When the sensors detect more air going into the intake, theyll put more gas into air/gas mixture, which means a little bit of a boost.

fuel

Edit: WTF Current Honda has a carb....

why don't you just use nitrous, exact same thing pretty much.

electronb16si 08-02-2004 08:01 PM

I am not an engineer but I would think that even if this WAS AT ALL POSSIBLE pushing that extra air in at a bad angle would screw up the velocity so that it would hinder performance. Also I would think you would need a REALLY BIG bottle of o2 to push enough into the intake to make actual boost pressure I think. But what the hell do I know. This is just all things I thought up that could be wrong.

im concerned about later engine problems with this set up https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif, test it out and tell us how well/bad it works https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emwink.gif

Re: (Hoang)

It wouldn't boost pressure it would just make more 02 readily available like nitrous. Except, the oxygen would be waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more volitile, and you better hope yours ass doesn't get into an accident.

the boost part of the idea is just outrageous... it will never happen

this o2 injection would be exactly like nitrous, except the oxidation from straight o2 is MUCH greater than nitrous. basically if you used a nx 30 shot nozzle im pretty sure the effects would be almost exponential like on a graph... fuel would be a must. but all in all less practical and less safe than nitrous

Dude, you really need to stop with these ideas, I mean, what exactly are the benefits suppose to be from your leaf blower and your O2 injection? Just go nitrous if you want a boost in power.

what you don't reallize since the air is not really getting pushed into the engine it won't get sucked in, it will just wonder around and most of it will go out thru the intake. No power gain, bad idea trash it.

Even if make some sort of valve so you presurise the IM, the pressure will drop like crazy once you realease it into the engine, unless you will be holling a crazy big ass tank behind you which would do nothing but slow your car down. It won't work just stop, don't say that you will make it work because you won't. Just stick to nitrous or other form of FI.

i thought about this idea. and it relates to my work. see i am a AME (aviation structural mechanic of safety equipment) in the navy. i work with high and low pressure oxygen systems everyday for P-3 aircrafts. The only problem i see with this design is we take EXTREME measures to ensure we dont have hydrocarbons come in contact with 100% pure aviators oxygen, if these two meet it will cause a spontanious combustion and create one hell of a fire. also when we charge the systems we have to do so in a charge at ***psi for 1 minute and cool system for *** minutes or else the once again itll explode (seen this happen once). so really i mean the idea is good in a sense and not. but in my personal opinion it is not worth the risks involved. my .02 buy a nitrous oxide kit.

Get some nitrous, call it a day.https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

I have an idea for you. Leaf blower turbo, AND Compressed o2 injection. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif

hehehe thats funny. leaf blower, compressed air, man some people really struggle to find cheap ways to gain power. youd be better off cutting out the floor of your car and flinstoning for that little extra power boost. or mabe you could bolt some fire extinguishes to the back of your car and point the nozzles backwards and fire those off when you need a little extra oomph. That would also look really cool with all the fog coming out of the back.

seriously though. there are ways that are researched and proven to make power for your car. Why not use one of them?

I was thinking about having the passenger pedal power my alternator when the belt broke once. Passenger didn't dig the idea tho, so I got a new belt.

you'll never get enough air moving... https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emthdown.gif

If you want compressed air buy a damn turbo or if you want more o2 get N2O

why do you keep wasting our time with these dumbass ideas?
no one cares
just save up money and get either nitrous or a turbo setup

DaX 08-03-2004 07:48 AM

I don't think you're going to get enough CFM out of a pressurized bottle, unless the reservoir and line are huge, and you have lots of pressure.
