Overheating toubles
 

So I have a '93 Si and one day while driving,my car started to overheat. The needle slowly started going up, so I shut it off and pulled over. I waited a bit and checked fuses. I also changed the fan relay (had a spare) and it ran fine for a while. Then about 2 weeks later while working (I deliver pizzas by the way), it did the same thing. I waited a while for it to cool, turned my ac on to get at least get a fan going and got it home. Changed coolant. Several days later it starts to smoke, like from the top of the radiator and was leaking coolant everywhere. My AC belt also came off during all this if it has any relevance. So I try a new radiator cap, no luck. Thinking it might be bad, tried another. Same thing. So I just got back in from installing a new radiator, hoses, thermostat, and coolant. Still smokes around the cap.

HT, what do I do?

Are you sure its not just burning up old antifreeze that dripped all over the place? How long did you let it run after you replaced everything? Keep an eye on your temp but let it run for a while, see if it stops.

I agree with him. Most likely your still have anti-freeze all over the place. Try to rely on your gauges. It will smell like anit-freeze for a while unless you powerwash the engine bay. With all of those changes you would have had to fix it.

me and my friend were just talking about cars overheating . . . he told me that iits either one of three things 1. radiator 2.water pump or 3. thermostat. and by the looks of it . . . it might be your water pump. Im just putting out what i know, dont bash me with non-sense! just tryin to help out!

I just did a timing belt and water pump a couple months ago.

try checking the thermo sensor. it controls your fan relay if your fan is not turning on then that explains everything if you already checked your relays and fuses.

The fan works and turns on. It does not leak now though, but it got hot on luch break. After school it was low on coolant. Maybe I didn't get all of the air out of it. I'll try that in a few.

ok. Well it ran fine for a while, but noticed the temperature start to mildly fluctuate. When I got out I noticed it was leaking pretty fast. No leaks around the radiator hoses or radiator. I guess it might be a heater hose. Guess I'll look tomorrow.
