so, last friday, i was driving home from school and i look down to see my temp needle right below H, so i pulled over right away, had my dad tow me to his house and the past couple days we have been "problem-solving". so first thing we thought was oh, maybe the thermostat went bad. replaced that, but it still overheated, but it just takes about 30 miles now of me driving to overheat. So i checked the hoses, both still get hot. felt the top and bottom of the radiator, still hot, so the radiator isn't clogged.

but what i had noticed is that the whole time i was doing this my fan was not coming on, so i checked the fuse and it was ok. i'm going to acura to check the relay today, because for some reason advanceautoparts can't??? which i was like"...??? ok???"

so i will find out if its the relay for the cooling fan that is causing it to overheat, or i was also thinking, it might be the waterpump. i was going to change my waterpump this summer because its gettin pretty close to needed to be changed, but i didnt think it'd go bad at this time.

but my question is, is there anything else i should be looking at that might be causing it to overheat?

what does your coolant look like? green with no black or brown? Maby a HG issue too you can have your coolant tested at a local rad shop for hydrocarbons that can indicate a bad hg etc.

Nahhh my coolant is fine, it's bright green

The switch that turns the radiator fan ON is located on the thermostat housing. It has a 2P connector. Uncouple the connector from the switch and insert a jumper wire across the two connector terminals. When the key is turned to ON(II), does the radiator fan now run? If so, replace the switch.

I went thru this hell 4 years ago. It ended up being a warped head. So hopefully yours is just the switch.

I'm trying to take it off, but is there something special I have to do to take it off? Cause it's being a bitch to get off

it has a brown connector end on it to make it easier for you to find.

There is a clip you push on to pull it out.

So enter the jumper wire on the connector that plugs into termostat housong or the termostat housing switch?

Insert the jumper wire into the wire harness connector -- not the switch.

wooooo, thanks alot ronj@ht, i just did that and the fan came on, so it must be the switch, will replace that this week

btw, am i going to have to drain the radiator before i replace it?

No, just bleed the cooling system of trapped air after you install the new switch.

have new sensor ready, unscrew old one, push new one in hole after applying teflon tape, tighten. plug in sensor, open rad cap. start car to let air out. finished. eat cookie
