Do you smell coolant burning out the exhaust pipe?

Have you or the mechanics you took it to, do a leak down test?

I would do one just to make sure it isn't the head gasket.

Hi Just a quick question. i've been having heating problems but it's of a different origin. The radiator fan does not come on at all...Just the other day i drove it and it started heating whilst drive in traffic. What could be the problem. I know for sure that the fan still works because i jumped it directly to the 12v battery and it worked. i also jumped the thermostat swtich connector. But seems like that's not the problem either. where else can i check? are there fuses/relay swtiches in the fuse box i can check up on? if so, which fuses do i look for; some same "cooling fan", "heater motor", i'm not sure which refers to what. Can you assist, i'd appreciate it. P.S it's a Honda Ballade luxline 160i 1997

probably a blown fuse just check under ur dash on the drive side u should see a fuse box just locate the fuse.. it overheated because ur fan wasnt working.. it happen to before...

to drchulo4u183

check ur sparkplugs and smell them.. u can kinda smell water on it and look at how the spark plugs are burning.. it happen to me before and i found it was the head gasket.. do u see white smoke comming out of ur tail pipe too?? check to see if u have any loss of water/coolant in ur radiator.. if u do it could either be a bad radiator or blown head gasket, or there a leak somewhere on ur hoses

check the one under the dash there should be a fuse diagram too just look at the diagram for the radiator fan fuse it should have like a 7.5a or 10a on it than look for it on teh fuse compartment

ironicaly enough.....i managed to get the aircon system working....lol but not the radiator fan....i figured i had the fuse for the aircon in the wrong place....hw that fuse compartment doesnt seem to have any naming i can associate with the radiator fan.....i have the diagram here in front of me....and some of the fuse names are as follows..."SRS(10A); heater a/c relay(7.5A); RR DEF RELAY(7.5A); METER(7.5);Keyless(7.5A)...." nothing to do with radiator fan fuse....

rr def rly....i see that in the compartment under the dash....the heater motor rly, and cooling fan motor fuses are in the front bonnet section under the hood.
