overheating help please
cars a 94 civic with a lsvtec car warms up fine idles fine after i drive about a half mile the guage goes up to 3/4 the way up and i gotta shut itdown and let it cool off new upper and lower rad hoses / new thermostat / new rad any ideas

Was it overheating before you replaced the parts?Did your burp the air out of the system? Is the cooling fan coming on? Is coolant filling up in your overflow container?

started doin it b4 i replaced the parts fan is on and working even if i turn on the heat full blast it still heats up overflow isnt filling up

Pressure test the coolant system for leaks and burp the system make sure that you have no air in the system

i hope so how can i check if it is my cars been down a week the motor has about 3k on it since it was built and im stuck with no car

Try running the car without the Thermostat. It could be that it's not opening up when reaching it's desired temperature. This happened to me with my Caprice with a brand new Tstat. Took it out, and it hasn't went past 180 so far.

take the radiator cap off start the car turn the heater on and run it until the thermostat opens if there is air in the system the the coolant level might drop as the air leaves the system. Top off with more coolant (don't forget the overflow container) reinstall the radiator cap and test drive the car.

^^ What instructor said... its really simple. Or you can dump out your overflow tank, take off your rad cap and fill it to the base of the neck, take a 12mm closed end wrench and loosen the bleed nipple until you get a constant flow of coolant coming out and then tighten the nipple. I like saying "nipple"... anyhow, after that run your car until your fan comes on twice, turn off the car and let it cool for a few mins, take off the rad cap and fill it up to the base again, and fill your resevoir tank to the "max" level. BTW, this was taken from Helms
