Well every time i change from water to antifreeze the antifreeze overheats my car, today i flushed the engine and put a thermostat in then added antifreeze i put it on ramps and burped the hoses and did this for 10 mins.Steam was coming from the radiator but the car was not overheating ..I drove for 5 mins and it was over heating so i drained it and ran water and now its fine again .Any ideas??

what do you mean "change" from water to antifreeze? if you are running straight antifreeze, then thats why its over heating... it needs to be diluted with water 50/50.... you also shouldnt be running straight water in the summer... not only does antifreeze lower the freeze point of water, it raise the boiling point from 212 to ~250

What temp does it get up to? How long does it take? Does it overheat while stopped then cool off while driving? Make sure the fan is coming on.

well my fan is on a manual switch, i turn it on when i get in and i drive it for about 5 mins and it overheats to the H, then when am home i open the hod and steams coming from the cap(i changed that last week) and i hear boiling from the radiator reservoir i have no idea what to do...am going to flush it again today and try antifreeze again....oh and yesterday when i just put the antifreeze in and ran it to get the air out there was already steam coming for the radiator!

How old is the radiator?
Maybe it has a internal blockage?
Maybe the radiator cooling fins are deteriorated?

I wouldn't waste any more of your time and money changing the fluids back and forth as it sounds like you have a problem with your cooling system in general. Probably the water pump or a plugged radiator to be honest. The steaming from your radiator is probably the water/coolant getting on it from the fluid swaps you're doing and its getting hot and steaming off, that's normal. Worst case scenario could be a head gasket but there are plenty of other things to check before that. If you pop the cap and wait for it to get warm do you see water flowing through the radiator? Or exhaust bubbles from the leaking headgasket? If you've been 'overheating to the H' and steaming from the cap, I'd wager the headgasket is done, among other things.

what is the mileage on the motor?

Next time you have a chance check the coolant to see if it is diluted with something else. If it appears milky or has oil in it your HG is done.

og if theres "white smoke" from the exhaust, or if the oil is discolored... actually.. it be on the safe side, do a compression test

Compression test won't always reveal a bad headgasket.

i changed my head gasket 2 weeks ago and the car ran good (on water) but antifreeze it steams out of the radiator itself not from liquid hitting anything, anyother thing NO HEAT COMING FROM HEATER WHEN HEATER IS ON?!

When you changed the head gasket did you check for warpage in the head and block? Did you change head studs or reuse? Also, why did you run just straight water instead of 50/50 coolant?

You're right, but some diagnostics is better than no diagnostics.

OP; Have you actually flushed your coolant system ever?

No heat from the heater could be a plugged / goofed up heater core which is causing poor circulation, leading to the rest of your fits.

For one thing, as far as overheating is concerned, it won't matter if you use water or antifreeze except that water will cause your water pump seals to fail prematurely and allow corrosion of the cooling system. Lets also not rule out that its winter and the water could have frozen and cracked the block or head (hence another reason for the use of "antifreeze").
If there was a difference after the water was drained and refilled with antifreeze then it was likely due to improper bleeding of the cooling system.
In this case where it sounds like exhaust gasses could be getting into the cooling system I'd get a block tester kit and use that for diagnosis.
I suspect either the system was not bled properly or the new headgasket is not sealing, for whatever reason.
OP, did you check or resurface either of the mating surfaces?
Why did you change the original headgasket, or rather what caused the original headgasket to fail?

ya i flush my system, i super flushed it a few days ago and i burped it extra good and now it sometimes gets alittle warmer then normal but never in the H...but i do think my heater core is clogged
