over heating
I have a 94 civic sedan and every once in a while my car will over heat. Everytime I gas the car it would go down and when I stop it would go back up. This is while i have the heater on also.

DOES YOUR fan works and how many miles on the car can be your waterpump but im not sure cause i got the same problem on and off overheating

First of check your anti-freeze level.
Check your T-stat.
Make sure your fan is working.
Do a compression check.
If it was your W/P you could be leakiing antifreeze. And if it was seized, your timing belt would of snapped off or shreaded the teeth.

engine over heating? yes? How's the radiator? what year? is it still orginal radiator? If so get a new one it'll help, thats what I did on old 93 coupe (sold) Maybe radiator on it is bad, or the coolant.

considering it's the original radiator I would just replace it, unless you just want to do a test on whatever and etc if taking to a shop etc guys could charge your up the *** just to test + labor?
But if test fails, the test would be kind of a waste if you're spending money so if you don't mind buying a new radiator no more than but around $120 more or less it might fix the problem if not good luck. Mines costed $100 something not too much-don't remember, auto store. Pretty easy to install yourself as well did it myself first time no problem, looking to buying a new one for my new coupe the re-built is not as effective-seems to be hotter than normal like grab the dip stick burn your finger hot! so yeah well good luck

Before you spend money, do some tests. Does your fan kick on? How does the outside of your rad look? It should be clean. This is while sitting or at town speeds right? If your coolant looks clean you rad should not be plugged. And I've seen water pump blades basicaly go away. This would explain why reving would bring the temp down. The blades might not be working at like there ment to be.
