OT: How do YOU insure your hybrid??
Im debating whether or not to tell me insurance company about the engine in my hybrid hatch. I figure it may be worth the extra cash per month to have the peace of mind. If i just took pics of the engine bay and what not, would that be sufficient? What do you guys do??
Thanks,

Get a quote from other insurance companies!!!!
Just call them and state that you have a different engine in the car. See what they say, if they will insure you then go to your existing insurance company and tell them that the other company will. They may keep you or they may drop you. If they drop you, you can always just start up with the company that said they would insure you.

Re: OT: How do YOU insure your hybrid?? (Spade)
I have had this debate before.....i called a insurance company up and they told me that in order for them to insure my car, i would have to get a safety inspection done by a certified shop. As well, i will have to get a appraisal done to determine the real value of the car. That was too much BS to go through so i just went to another insurance company and didn't tell them about my swap. But i took pictures and have the reciept of the swap so if anything does happen, i have some prove that i had a $4000 GSR engine in there.

yeah but they can't prove that a b series engine isn't safe.
1)del sols, acuras, and japaneses hondas come with b series engines
2)a motor doesn't contribute to safety except for a speed factor
when was the last time you heard of someone having a wreck because they had a gsr engine(not speeding)

When they bought a GSR with a bad axle???? Just something that the insurance company will try to fight to prove........
If there is any doubt that the accident happened because of a faulty part that does come in the car orrigianly they will look to fight.
