OT: Horse Power TV calling GSR Powered Civic a TURD?
WTF. The guy sitting next to me at work today said they swapped a gsr motor into a civic and one of the people said " you can polish a turd " " but its still a turd "

i watched most of the swap and i didn't hear one of them call it a turd. but you can tell they know nothing about imports when the first thing they did to the civic was body kit, chrome rims, and stickers, and i think they even put altezzas on it. WOO HOO!!! and they call it HORSEPOWER tv. what a joke.

Ahhhhhhhhhh. Damn! I knew my co-worker was twisting the story. Its ok, cause my hatch would kill his SS and he knows it.

I thought it was pretty cool that they had a few civics on their show, but it became painfully obvious that their modification choices were motivated by the show's sponsors.
Can't complain about the Bear brakes though.

Yea, the GSR-powered civic ended up at 171 WHP.
But it was still ugly as hell. Green with vinyl designs, bling bling rims, and Altezzas.
And the "Honda Expert" on there was a little, let's say, "off".

hahahaha, did you see the one when they were putting an exhaust on that 95 coupe and they brought in their "import expert" and he was talking about how aggressive it sounds and stuff, then they dyno it and i think it lost hp and he says "thats okay, cause this is the sound we were looking for" then it shows him doing a weak *** burnout with the clutch slipping.

so what your saying is if you do the same to a type r motor that puts down 170-175 stock to the wheels, then if i add I/H/E and cams too i can get 200 to the wheels?? because form just those mods alone they got about 20-25 hp to the wheels. on the gsr motor..

They had been running some NAWS on the DX motor they swaped out. So, maybe they put it on the GS-R.The car is still a turd, ugly as Chucks(the host) mullet.

I gotta agree here. those cams their running are pretty good too. I've seen their dyno sheet on the cams. it shows an extra 20 hp throughout the mid range and eventually tops out at the top end. My choice of cam would be this one or the skunk2 stage 1 cam.

You sure about the nitrous? I know that they had nitrous with the stock motor, but I don't remember if they kept it or not for the gsr motor. Also 171whp for a gsr with zex cams and nitrous would be kind of a disapopintment.

I wouldn't hardly call a civic a turd, but I really don't think that it is a good platform for those with high HP goals.

Yeah I'm suprised their "Import Guru" basically riced out the car. I thought it was funny when the one guy referred to the GSR motor as a big block.

Re: OT: Horse Power TV calling GSR Powered Civic a TURD? (White92Hatch)
Yeah i saw that and started laughing... "this would be honda's big block..." what a tool...how about a H22 or something like that?? I was kinda impressed with 172 at the wheels too...I was guessing about 162 (thats what i guessed in front of my girlfriend) but 172 seemed high to me!
