Default Ordered H4 HIDs for 98 civic...has projector headlights, what bulbs are needed?

Friend of mine bought HIDs. Got them H4 hi/low and I went to install them and well, couldnt. He bought chrome housing projectors and halos and all that jazz. Well they werent the big H4s I expected. Are all projectors universal? If not, what do I gotta do to figure it out? There were no markings.

if you got them off of ebay it usuially says that HID bulbs will not work. the same thing happened with a buddie of mine.

thats why i just stick with JDM headlights and cornners. but yes i have HIDs also.

I've got the TYC projectors, and put HID's in them. The projectors that your friend has probably use the H1 bulbs. Just ask an HID specialist which HID bulb equivs to the H1 size and can fit in a plug and play application.

they looked to be pretty small bulbs.

your e-bay projectors takes h3 bulbs.

TYC brand projector uses h1 bulbs.

When you put HID in a halogen housing you get a shitty light output.
It might look brighter but it's also more narrow and cut off is not that good.

go for a OEM projector retrofit
