So this was a maintenance required light, and you're driving a 2001+ civic? If so, and the car has been mantained, you can just turn it off. It comes on at a certain mileage to remind you to go get ripped off at the dealer for maintenance.

It means the same thing. It's a colored wheels that is attached to the odometer. If you perform regular maintenance on your car, just reset it by sticking your key in the slot.

Are you sure it doesn't mean replace your engine?

Buy a service manual, it will be your best friend.
