i have had 3 yellow tops within the last year. the first to went bad within a month, and the third took almost a year. now i will be getting my forth. (for free/6 year warranty) but this is ridiculous. my buddy just bought a red top for his eclipse, and it went bad within a month, he is on his second. anyone else have these problems? i thought these batteries were supposed to be bad ***.

After the first went bad within a month, did you go through and check all your wiring and fuses. I would have, but i guess i'm just paranoid?

I got a yellow top, in 2 months, the battery was cooked, it turns out that I had an open ground in the engine bay. I fixed the ground wire (thanks buddy club Earthing grounding kit) and took my batt back on warranty. 8 months later, no problems... Whenever your battery goes south, check your wiring, most of the time, a battery just doesnt crap out, likewise, if you are going through alot of batteries, perhaps its YOUR car, not the battery. In addition, a common cause of battery failure is improperly installed sound systems, so if you and ur buddy put in some monster amps with no cap, then it may be your bad, not the battery's

I do believe that Optima, gel cel batt's, are all suposed to be trickle charged. Your alternator may be charging the batt's too fast causing their early death. But that's just something to think about.

I used to have one in my old '98 Prelude and it worked fine. What usually kills a battery is a bad alternator. You should have checked that first before you went and replaced your Optimas.

not only that, but they aren't supposed to be jump started, don't know the technical reason, but it can shorten the life expectancy...
I've had a yellow top for almost 4 years now, it's been in four different vehicles, and still haven't had a problem, I put it on a shelf for 3 months, it went dead (of course) did a slow 2 amp charge for almost a day, then put it in another car and it's still pumping, the old ones they used to make for Honda/Acura (civic/integra) I've replaced twice both one just from sitting all winter and then jump starting, the other was jump started a few times at a body shop and then quit holding a charge... but the full size yellow top has always been good to me....
