The optima batteries will not fit in the 97 civic factory location unless you want to beat the living **** out of your firewall , which i don't recommend. If you are looking for a battery I say go to http://www.odysseybatteries.com/ and get one of theie batteries, just like the spoon ones and are alot cheaper.

or streetwires svr batteries. i had an optima but i had to relocate it to the trunk of my last car. not worth it really. plus u get trouble if u ever race sanctioned events. get one that fits the stock location.

Okay, here's a little 'Battery 101' for you...

Optima was recently bought by Johnson Controls. Who is that? They make the best batteries in the world IMHO.

Johnson Controls, if you'll pardon the pun, is the current manufacturer of the Sears DieHard. They also make the Price-Costco batteries.

Without turning this into a diatribe, you can buy Optima batteries at Price-Costco - or at least they were available the last time I shopped there. If that doesn't work for you:

http://www.optimabatteries.com/findOptima.asp

Here's an app. guide for you too:

http://www.optimabatteries.com/usingOptima/auto.asp

IMHO, you would be better off buying a Kirland Signature battery. It is every bit the equal of the Sears DieHard at half the price. That's what I've been using lately, and they rock!
