Default opinions on valvetrain

ok, im looking for opinions of people that know. not from ppl that have heard this or that.

im going to be upgrading my valvetrain soon. new camshafts, cam gears, and maybe valvesprings and retainers.

im looking at stage 1 of anything.

skunk2
obx
jun
crowler

is it going to be worth getting valve springs and new retainers if im only getting a stage 1 camshaft.

also is it worth the extra money to get the skunk2 over the obx. now im talking about obx camshafts not headers or other parts. if you dont have any experience with obx camshafts please to post.

im looking to get the aem camgears unless anyone has had bad experience with them and would recomend different ones. i would be getting the (true set)ones i believe thats what they are called. the ones with more than 3 bolts.

thanks in advance
matt

I have also heard OBX makes a decent product with good power gains but I would still purchase the Skunk 2's just for quality and precise engineering...Dont get me wrong the OBX cams do have a good rep, especially for OBX.....Myself I would upgrade the valvetrain just because Id rather have the extra insurance with my motor......

Stage 1 cams are suppose to be compatible with the stock valve train so you wont need them....Im sure you will be fine if you are just touching factory redline of 8200rpms....But myself wouldnt go through all the work without replacing everything.....Thats just me though....
