Default opinions on 195/45/15 tires

i saw some 45 series tires for 15s the other day in a magazine and was wondering if anyone actually rocks them. cant remember the brand but it was a pretty big one.

the only reason im asking is because i got a pair of nameless brand 205/50/15s for my slips a few weeks ago and they rub really bad at the ride hight i was at, so i had to raise my coilovers before i cashed my fenders.

so basically im looking for a good 15' tire to slam my car on again with less rubbing

I use to rub with my 205/50/15s until I rolled my inner fender lip. solved that problem

BTW running on 45 sidewall is like running on a rubber band, you will feel every hole, bump, etc... on them.

True. I have 205/45/16's and it's a harsh ride.

How much are you lowered?

my car has been lowered since day one(forgot what stock ride hight was like), but that was a few years ago . id say just i was at the point where i just couldnt fit any fingers in between the fender and tire. how or where do you get your fenders rolled?

I use to have it lowered about 2 1/4" drop. that's when I rubbed everytime someone got into the car or when I made a turn. I have since raised to only a drop of 1.5"

BTW in order to roll the fender, I remove the fender from the car and pressed the inner fender lip inward and reinstalled it on the car. Simple! Done! No more rubbing issues.

Now if you have a camber kit and you added alot of positive camber to it, you will still rub due to tire rubbing directly on the fender. This also applies if you are lowered beyond the 2 1/2" range.

i guess i labeled that one wrong, im just trying to figure out how i can drive my car with a good drop and not rub and one thought i had was to use 45 series tires. btw i could care less about show, if you look in my sig youll notice my car doesnt sport anything that i would consider show, just a bone stock cx with a gsr. id like to keep this going in this forum so i can learn a few new ways to mod my fenders to accept larger tires and a decent drop.

if you roll that lip inside your fender you wouldnt be able to use the fender liner anymore right?

if it really matters the title of this thread can be changed

No, if you only roll just a portion of the fender that is rubbing. BTW the fender lips are in sections so just roll the part that is rubbing. I still use my entire fender liner without any issues.

Also if you want a good drop and still have a sporty handling then I recommend the Eibach pro-kit. drops about 1.4"-1.5" perfect for the daily driver
