Re: OMG what speakers fit in a 92-95 coupe? (93CivicSI)
I looked up my car (95 civic coupe) on Crutchfield and it says that the rear deck speakers are 5 1/4 which I know they are not.
It's wierd, 6 1/2 inch speakers fit in there loosely. Like the hole is larger than 6 1/2.
I have asked around a lot of different places that say it's a 6.5 inch hole, when it's clearly not.
I'd like to know the answer too. Right now I just have 6.5 inch speakers in there and there is a gap around one edge because they are too small.

they have a special size if you have the optional acoustic research system. crutchfeild has a special instructional booklet for the a/r system. check for that in your car.. it will have an emblem on the rear speaker grill and the tweeter pod on the door.. good luck

Yeah, I have that. I also have the tweeters in the doors.
Where's the link to the a/r system instructions?

not like stock, they seemed a bit too big, but i got 2 holes to line up so they dont rattle and the covers went back on so you would never tell.
some cheap panasonics, never checked the depth.
edit: on the crutchfeild site if you click "Fits!" above the item, this pops up:
"» A speaker adapter bracket is required. It is included free with your speaker purchase. "
my 5 1/4 seemed like they would have fit perfect with something like that, honestly

just tryin to check here,is there any type of bracket that holds the stock speaker in place?or did it just screw on straight to the deck(metal)?

my 93 lx and my 95 dx coupe have 6.5 all the way around.
the stock honda speakers use a 3 skrew arrangement, in a triangle. aftermarkets (typically) use a 4 skrew arrangement.
you have to use an adapter plate to put the speakers in.
kenwood 6.5 will fit perfect without a plate.
i have infinity references in the back which came with an adapter plate. i just had to cut a little of the cardboard stuff around the speaker to make it fit without hitting it (the speaker grill covers the cuts i made.

All coupes are 6 1'2". The differences are in the mounting plates. Make your own out of some MDF with a jigsaw.
Do yourself a favor and dont use the rear speakers. No matter what you put there, they sound like ****. Spend the $$ and get a really good front stage with a good amp and you won't need rears. Mine are empty. =P
Focal 165W up front baby.
