What car/motor? What mods? Could be a million things from bad fuel pump to dead ignitor.

does it crank at all when you turn the key ?

2 things come to mind with this problem...

ignition module inside the distributor or fuel filter is clogged

Check that main relay and fuel pump. Odds are it's not the fuel filter because fuel filters don't go 100% to not working in one shift. Also very well could be something in your distributor.

if you don't know him, you are at his mercy

Do 5th gen h/bs have gas lights ? I have yet to see one on my car and it was in the red and not coming back up so I guess they don't.

either air, fuel or spark. Sounds like a fuel problem (fuel pump, injectors, possibly filter but I doubt it)

Check your distributor and the points. Ignition maybe. Its hard to tell without looking at it.

I gotta agree with the ignition module inside the distributor.

I went to give my brother a ride home from a junior prom that he was hosting (he was a senior) and the car (fresh with a gsr) just died on me on the freaking freeway. I had to get California Highway Patrol to push me to the next off ramp, and I tried to fix it there till 3 in the morning. The next day, we exchanged distributors and it fired right up.

I'm gonna bet on the distributor. Possibly rotor button problem or ignitor problem.

I can almost positively say it is the igniter or the ignition coil.... Happend to me in my old CRX, my sisters 96' coupe, and my del sol.... Did you ever notice the tach going wild under heavy acceleration??? That is usually a sign of a dying igniter.

Are you sure the timing belt didn't skip a tooth?

If you want to check you fuel pump just disco the line from the top fo the fuel filter and put it in A BUCKET and turn on your ignition and it sould pump fuel into the bucket. before you start your car your fuel pump builds presure in the fuel line and you can hear it run in the trunk for about 5 sec.
