Re: OMG I hate my Sol
OK well I took another look at the seals tonight and noticed it wasn't the new seals that were leaking but the old ones. The one on the front windshield turned out to be the culprit.
1.) First I found where it was leaking( Passenger Side seal) Notice how deformed it looks.
2.) Then I took some black foam I had laying around and actually filled the void inside the seal where it was deformed( make sure water can still run through the seal when your done)
3.) I then took the seal and put it back on. Then I poured about a gallon of water on it and whatcha know it doesn't leak!!!

How much do all of these seals end up costing you guys? This'll be something I'd def. want to do in the future. My leaking isn't so bad as you guys are describing. It only leaks when I take hard turns AND if I have standing water on my roof. But when it does leak, it comes through in that same area the OP is talking about. That corner where the door meets the roof.

Re: OMG I hate my Sol
why dont u just seal it up yourself?
throw some silicone gasket maker over the seals (get the black one)
thats what i did with my CRX when the hatch was leaking. just threw some silicone over it. and called it a day.

The seal is right where the corner of the window rolls up. It cannot be sealed with gasket maker. The seal is fat and is supposed to put enough pressure against the window when it is rolled up to make a seal , but they wear out and leak. Sticking some foam to beef it up from the inside was a good idea Wakes4Fun. I will try that on mine when i buy the new rubber.
I found the rubber on this site for 130$

that front seal that wraps around the windsheild seems to be the common problem with del sol's and it cost $180 when i went to honda to see how much it would be.

Re: OMG I hate my Sol
Well the damn seal seems to still be leaking. I think it has to do with the front one collapsing so I'm going to try and stuff more foam in it before we get heavy rain showers this Wed. and Thursday. lame
BTW I am also buying a tarp just in case that doesn't work. ROFL

Its a design flaw.
They fixed it in 95 (or was it 96) and up. But for some reason didn't feel like recalling the older ones.
If you get it at Honda Automotive Parts.com, its $127. I believe they only sell the new one, but you may want to tell it you have a 97 just in case lol.
I've tried several things to keep from leaking, and now I've decided I'll have to buy this too.
There is one more thing to try. An old thread here told how to put washers under the targa latch, and that would squish it tight enough to stop leaking, but I'm just going to buy a new one.
Good luck.

Re: OMG I hate my Sol
I've had a couple of Tee-top cars with leaky seals I was able to stop just by applying several coats of silcon (di-electric) grease a couple of times. Apparently if the rubber isn't really badly deformed the silicon grease softens it enough to make the seal. May not work but its cheap enough to try.

Nope. I've siliconed the hell outta them, and they are like new, they are so soft, but they still leak constantly in the rain, and pours like a waterfall when I turn right.
Like I said, its a design flaw.
