ok I drive a 2000 EK hatch with 99' B18C1 USDM swap. AEM CAI and 2000TYPER midpipe with Spoon N1 muffler

ok I recently changed both o2 sensors. Primary is from Honda. Secondary is some aftermarket ghetto one. When the o2 sensors got installed I was throwing 2 CEL codes. Code 20 ELD (which I need an ELD sensor from a different car). Code 74 is giving me problems. I have switched to Bosch platinum 4 spark plugs, NGK blue wires, new distributor carp, swapped around the injectors. Motor sounds like it's bogging a bit. You can hear my motor stutter a bit. Sometimes I will be driving and at around 3000rpm my rpm start droppin even though my foot is on the gas. After about 2-3 seconds it'll jump back up again. I've tried reseting the ECU and CEL comes on in less then 10 seconds.

I've never read anywhere that when someone does a B-series swap into an EK, that they needed to change the ELD to a different one. Where did this info come from?

An ELD is an ELD. Since your using a 99 GS-R ECU, what voltage do you get on pin D16 with everything off (headlights, blower fan)? What voltage do you get when you turn the headlights on?

At idle, it should read about 3.5v and DROP as headlights and other electrical accs are turned on.

Note: I have Phillips 5000k HID kit + honda oem foglights with yellow bulbs. just extra info. I am trying for any and all alternatives.


Compression was at 170 through all 4 of them.

2000 DX don't come with an ELD sensor. 99' GSR's do.

I will try to check and let you know what voltage I get in D16 on Friday because I am off to work soon and won't have time to do it until Friday. I will also be switching to a chipped P28 ECU since I got the skunk2 obd2>obd1 conversion harness. So we'll see. Man this is really pissing me off.

Are you sure you are counting the lights right? 74 could be a code 65 (secondary O2 sensor) if you count the blinking lights wrong. I have seen people make this mistake before.

took the words out of my mouth. counting the cel wrong seems like it could be the answer. it sounds like you already have an idea about your ghetto o2 sensor. usually when you have o2 sensors installed, and start throwing codes, it's because of the sensor(s) you just installed


and one more thing, take those damn Bosch plugs out immeadiately!!! get some NGK's. you have the wires, get the damn plugs!! it could explain your car boggin

ok well my RPM gauge doesn't work for some reason and car idles like ****. I swapped out the Bosch platinum 4 spark plugs and they were literally BLACK dark dark dark black.

my car shuts off on me while I drive. It chokes and I can't even drive it anywhere until I get a new secondary o2 sensor *mad face*

I don't know what to do about RPM gauge. Can someone help me out. This thing is pissing me off and stressing me like no tomorrow.

ok RPM fixed. Idle is still a little weird due to Secondary 02 sensor. I am going on Monday to get it replaced with an OEM Acura one . Monday also I am going to pick up an ELD sensor from a local shop (for free) then I am running perfect

My secondary O2 sensor is not hooked up and it causes me no problems at all(except for a check engine light). Your idel problem is probably related to something else. Are you positive the wiring to the generic O2 is correct?

yup it's my secondary o2 sensor being replaced Monday.
