Okay Something weird about a B18B I bought.
Okay I'm reaaallly confused right now. I bought a 94 B18B from Jdm Imports Direct. A reputable shop in my city. The motor is straight from japan out of an AT 94 integra. The weird thing is this... The intake manifold looks like a 92-93 intake manifold except it doesn't have some of the things that the A1 intake manifold has. It also doesn't have the pgmfi sticker. It is labeled PR4 on the back, which some of you may know a PR4 is the type of ecu out of a 92-93 integra.
Second thing... The cam gears are labeled "PR3" which is even older integra... WTF?!
The motor however is labeled B18B!!
Someone tell me wtf is goin on! I know for sure this motor hasn't been tampered with or modified at all. Unless there is some weird enthusiast driving an AT in japan and putting older pars on it...

almost seems like if someone put a older head on a new block...but u already said that the head wasn't tampered with...look on the front of the head where the header goes...see wat year the head is...ther should be some numbers there

it's 93, which would mean it is indeed a 94 right? Because I used to have a 90 b18a1 which was labeled as 89 and we all know there were no B series motors in 89.
So I yeah im sure its a 94 since they have that 1 year early release thing

i believe 93 was when they started out with obd 1 motors but it was still a cable trans...but yours in automatic...your should be fine...nothing to worry about...your just going to slap on the MT anyways...and you'll prolly switch out the intake mani to upgrade

I'm pretty sure they started obd1 in 92-93. I'm just saying every motor is put out as a year newer than it is. So if you buy an 06 civic in 05, than the motor will still be printed as 05 and not an 06. I'm just trying to confirm if any of the labeling of the parts makes a difference, like in performance. I was just worried because PR4 is what is labeled on 90-91 Integra ECU's and PR3 is what the 88-89 Integra ECU's are labeled as. I guess it would pretty much be impossible for the cam gears to be from a 88-89, since they didn't have B series motors that far back... Maybe i'm just paranoid.
I'm pretty convinced that the head is not from an older integra, because on the older itnegras there is an extra piece that looks something like a FPR on the intake manifold. On the intake manifold on my motor however, has the spot where that little fpr thingy should be, but is not tapped to accept it. It's just blank... weird!!! FUUUUK im confusing myself

i think all b-series cam gears say pr-3. i think your motor is fine, just swap out the intake manifold and tranny and your golden. maybe the intake manifold looks different because its an automatic

all LS cam gears say PR-3 on them. My 99 B20 has PR-3 on it and it was completely stock. I am pretty sure the 1st gen B16's came out in 88 or 89 so B-series motors have been out for a while. As for the sticker not being on the intake manifold, its probably came off or was removed, ya never know.

^^^
In regards to the above for clarification.
In 92-95 hatches, I'm pretty sure only the si, and cx, and vx had map sensors on the throttle body.
All DX had map sensors on the firewall. A square box with one hose connected to the throttle body

crap okay guys here we go. Yeah so I guess this motor is from a car that had the firewall mounted map sensor... However... on the wiring harness that i have (from a d series del sol) there is no plug for me to plug into a map sensor..
My question is this... On the firewall mounted map sensors are they plugged into the engine wire harness or the chassis wire harness?

I have that EXACT intake manifold on my b18a1, the guy I bought my motor from said it was JDM and flows better cause it doesnt have all those vaccum ports... I did research and found out that this intake manifold comes ONLY from 94-95 JDM b18b engines. To tell you the truth I truely like this intake manifold. Does this look familiar?
Taken from hmotorsonline ... "B18B 94-95 (LS) Long Block "

Oh yeah about the map sensor, it is supposed to be on the firewall... for my swap I just took off the map sensor thats on the tb from my d15 and put a vaccum line from that to the smaller nipple on the throttle body, the larger is for the charcoal canister line.
hope this clears things up

also if it`s an auto motor swap out the cams . auto motors seem to make less power because of the less aggressive cams

Is this true? I was told my swap came from a auto, how can I tell if it did or not ?

hrmm.. there were a couple other posts about this topic but there wasn't really any proof that the auto motors were slower. I think most people agreed that honda wouldn't go through the trouble and money of making different cams for at and mt. I duno though.
