OK, what sohc tranny for a turbo...
I was wondering what sohc tranny I should run on a 96 DX/ h/b. I heard that a dx tranny does great because the gears are longer. Would an ex, si tranny be better. Also I'll be runnin' the stock sohc "non vtec" motor, THANKS

I don't understand this......if you make your peak power at a high rpm, wouldn't you want a tranny that keeps the revs in that range, regardless if you are turbo or NA?

that's definately what you want. don't listen to these idiots that tell you to use longer gears. i believe someone over at turbod16 was using the worthless dx tranny and running low 15s. he switched to the ex, and was getting high 13s. you want the 96-00 because it has the stronger steel shift forks, instead of the aluminum ones in the 92-95.

i've been hunting one in good condition for awhile now. haven't really found a decent one for cheaper than 400 bucks. i had one with 17k for $200 but it slipped through my fingers . if you find one and don't want it, let me know - i'll do the same for you .

depends on mods, but the ideal improvement w/ basic bolt-ons seems to be about half a second or so.
the 96-00 EX trans is the best trans for any sohc build, NA, turbo....anything. Second best would be a 92-95 EX or Si trans, unless you are trying for a top-speed record, in that case the cx/dx EK hatch trans and its 3.72 FD would be perfect
