well the first step to making it faster would be to realize the cx has 70hp stock not 92 http://rely.net/~htimages/smile/emhammer.gif

try getting a intake header and an exhaust then adjust the timing and throttle cable http://rely.net/~htimages/smile/emthup.gif

Engine swap!

I'll have a D16z6 available after I do my engine swap in a couple weeks. It's in my 92 Si right now. You aren't going to smoke any 5.0's with it, but it is a fun engine with its 125hp.

I had one of those. It's 1.5L; don't expect a lot. It's made for economy, not speed. I got almost 50 MPG on a drive from North Carolina to Chicago.

Personally, I wouldn't put any money into go-fast parts for that engine. If you want speed, save for a swap. Any swap.

dont bother with the 1.5 man...save up and go for a swap and I/H/E! How fast do you wanna but? and wot will the usage of your car be?

For fuel economy. I just bought a '92 CX for my wife. She gets 44 mpg CITY driving. It's a perfect car for her running around all day.
The only way to get power out of your car is a swap. I also have a DX with a GSR swap for me to fix up and have fun with but we are leaving hers alone.

Don't waste your time with a CX motor. That bitch has 70hp...there isn't anything you can do to make it fast. Even if you bought a turbo kit for that motor (which i DO NOT Suggest at all!!) it would still be just as fast as a DX hatchback...maybe close to a stock SI hatch. Just save for a swap...B18B, B16A, B20B(or B20Z http://rely.net/~htimages/smile/emthup.gif ), B18C(1 or 5), basically anything...70hp isnt getting you anywhere and never will. You will probably blow that motor before you can even put 70hp to the wheels http://rely.net/~htimages/smile/emwink.gif

Dont waste your time trying to make the stock cx motor fast. Ive ridden in a '93 cx w/ ex tranny, ex intake manifold, and dx exhaust manifold, and it would still have gotten killed by a normal dx hatch. http://rely.net/~htimages/smile/emcrook.gif

Either swap the motor or, if your on a serious budget, throw on a vtec head and ex/si tranny.

I bought a CX for my wife and had the same reaction.... too slow.

Not wanting to do any serious mods, I put a DX 16 valve head on it (I used the CX intake) and it does have more power. We're not talking alot, but at least now I feel safe pulling out into traffic. This winter I'm definately putting a DX/Si tranny into it though. Those long gears don't do much for acceleration.

AND yes, the CX 8 valve motor does have valve reliefs for 16 valves, I have pictures to prove it.......

Re: ok, i just bought a 93 civic hatchback CX and its slow as crap , help me get it as fast as the f

Yeah. I'd swap the 16-valve DX head on it, get a header, exhaust, intake. That's about all you can really do for cheap.

Stock CX is 8-valve and 70hp. DX is 16-valve and 108hp ( I think )

I solved the problem of my 93 CX being slow by swapping a B18C1 into it. Slow no more.

I'd start saving for a swap, and just enjoy the 40+ mpg you'll get from the CX, or just drive the DX.

Re: ok, i just bought a 93 civic hatchback CX and its slow as crap , help me get it as fast as the f

don't listen to all the doubters here....I decided (and partially my budget decided for me) that rather than swap out my CX motor, I would play with it. D-series parts are cheap, and you can make it a fun car without removing the motor.

2 things kill the CX, the head, and the trans. Get an ex/Si tranny (they are all the same from 92-00), a decent clutch, adn do a VTEC head swap. I did this stuff and the car is a whole different animal. Even though it is 1.5L, the compression is about 10.3:1, and that is plenty to move the car buch better.

I plan to turbo my mini-me, which is not necessarily cheap, but I will be putting easily 200 hp to the wheels, and way more torque than a B18. That WILL smoke 5.0s.

Get a big old fat shot of nitrous in there. Zoom!!

And when the motor blows, you'll have an excuse for a swap. http://rely.net/~htimages/smile/emthup.gif

Re: ok, i just bought a 93 civic hatchback CX and its slow as crap , help me get it as fast as the f

well, a '93 CX still has around 100lb/ft of torque!
But the tranny has horrible gearing and the head is engineered for fuel efficiency not horsepower.

1) buy a 16 valve Si head cheap, then mate that to your CX bottom end
2) buy an Si tranny
3) get an SRR final drive from AJR
4) install a lightweight flywheel

-and you will be ready to rock.

swap a b16b then a I/H/E then get some full coilovers then paint it then get wheels then new interior then paint it again then get new wheels and sell it http://rely.net/~htimages/smile/emsmilep.gif

4) install a lightweight flywheel

you know, CX flys are already lighter than other d-series flys...they have less material on the backside.....
