Ok I CANNOT get the drums off my 99 civic.
I've been trying for the last hour. I cannot get the rear drums off my 99 civic. I've tried everything, and did searches... is there something i'm missing? I've tried pounding on it.. I've tried prying on it.. I've tried the screw in the little hole. I dont' get it. ( no the parking brake is not on ) It spins freely, but no dice.
Can anyone help?

use longer screws and use two screws. screw both of them in as evenly as possible. this should work

Get WD-40 spray the hell out of where the lugs and drum meets. Then get a small mallet or big hammer and hit the drum as hard as you can and a little on the lugs (not to hard). That works or me when there stuck. Good luck.

Spin the drum while pounding it with a RUBBER mallet. They will come eventually. And hit that thing, don't be gentle!

you should be able to get it off with out removing the hub, that is a last resort. but a good idea. also clean the rust off of the hub right around where the drum sits. it is a bitch but it will come off.

dont listen to any of those other jokers they dont know what they are talking about. if you are just trying to get the drum cover off (thats what i assumed you were talking about) after you take off the wheel there are 2 empty threaded holes between the lugs. get the correct threaded bolts (bolts from the clutch are a perfect fit) turn them in there and the drum will come right off so you can get to the pads and whatever else you are trying to do. if you use those bolts i dont thik theres a way you can mess this one up.

Hmm..... I couldn't find any screws to fit the holes. My technique worked fine. Guess I'm a joker.

it's like the drum (cover) is hooked on somehitng. Its starting to come off, but then it just stops..like if there was a lip on there or something and the shoes are hooking it.
I know it's not rusted, that's not the problem..
I'm about to bust out the chainsaw...

Re: (sivik2nr)
aight check it out. at the very beginning of the film the lug on the left and the lug on the right you see the small hole above the one on the left and below the one on the right. you need to find 2 bolts that thread perfectly into those holes. just keep alternating a half turn on each one and itll come right off.

im leaving work right now ill see if i can find a bolt from your engine bay that you might be able to use for it in about 10 minutes unless you get it before i get home.
