Oil Pressure sensor, do I need it?

Default Oil Pressure switch, do I need it?

Do I need this pluged in? I can't find what plugs into it on my harness.

If you are running a oil pressure gauge then yes you need to plug the sensor in. If you cant find where it plugs into then find a book or manual that has a wiring diagram for the correct location.

why wouldnt you plug it in? it's a pretty important sensor.

its a single plug, with a bonnet cap around it
kinda like a female stereo mini plug

What, vtec has nothing to do with it.

What oil pressure gauge ? The stock one.

You don't need to plug it in, it won't cause any problems but I would suggest having it plugged in.

I know this thred is old, but i have a question regarding what someone said on here.

Does the oil pressure sensor on the back of the block have anything to do with vtec, Say its not even connected, will that pevent vtec from activating? Or does it only detect oil pressure in the vtec assembly itself?

all that sensor does is drive the low oil press retard light on the dash, is has nothing to do with the ecu or vtec

only prob. would be if your oil pressure drops low and u dont get that red light of doom ur motor will be destroyed if u keep driving
