oil pickup damaged?
Here is a picture of my oil pickup. It looks kinda bent to me; my oil pan is pretty bent out of shape which is why i'm replacing it. Should I replace my oil pickup as well?

no way my dealer would have it...it would take them 2 weeks to order it and they would charge 5 times the price =\

you're better off replacing it, they are ~$40 from the dealer
or just order it from the online dealer http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com

Um no, go buy a new one for 40 bucks at http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/ . Then you never have to worry about it again, plus you never want to mess with something that is so crucial to an engine. Do it right the first time and you will be happy in the long run.

mine was bent out of shape just like yours...when i got my swap...luckily IAS sent me a brand new oil pan....as for the oil pickup..i didn't realize it was bent until we took off the old oil pan...and since i needed my car running, we just pryed the oil pickup back out....The car has been running since February like that, no problems yet...::knock on wood::...but i have bought a used in perfect condition pickup from b16GSR on honda-tech....Once i have to take off my oilpan to tap for turbo..im gonna go ahead and replace the pickup just in case.

on a side note, it seems my tranny is lacking a flywheel cover as I found out when taking off the oil pan. Is it ok to run the car with no flywheel cover?

acuraautomotive charges like twice the price for somethings which are identical Honda/Acura parts... plus you need to spend more than 30 bucks or somthing with em for them to accept your order. I've use Hondaautomotiveparts lots fo times and get my parts within the same week! I'd recommend them!!!

It's ok until dirt and rocks fly up into your flywheel/clutch assembly causing massive problems. I'd order up one of those too!!

Re: oil pickup damaged? (miataguy)
I bent the oil pickup back to its original shape(I'll replace it later, can't spend a week without my car) and put on the new oil pan. I also replaced the oil filter. I started up my car, oil pressure galore! I blipped the throttle and it jumps from ~30psi to ~80. Before it would never go past 60 and would be at ~35psi cruising I'm glad I got the problem solved. However, when i started up the car i saw what i thought were exhaust fumes coming from the engine bay. I thought I might not have tightened one of the header bolts, so i tightened one as hard as i could and the bolt snapped off Now i need to replace it. There are no more fumes coming from the engine thought - it was probably just spilt oil being burned.
