oil light on when revved over 1,500??????
I just picked up a 93 hatch with a d15b vtec motor in it. The hatch is a cx so the vtec had to be wired in. It all checks out and I replaced the oil pressure switch. I'm hoping it's not a failing oil pump. help me out, thanks.

Stupid question: Have you checked your oil lately?
Im thinking you're not that retarded. Kinda sounds like a failing oil pick-up.

yes I just did the oil change and oil switch at the same time. I prefer the term "I think I'm smarter than that." So as the motor is revved it is demanding more oil, so if the pick up is failing or clogged this would cause the oil light to come on. On the other hand if the pump is going bad it might not be producing enough oil pressure.?.

That is shitty but could be the truth. I have a friend that had a d15 do the same thing and then one day on the way home bearing froze up and threw rod through the block. How does having bad bearings turn the oil light on?

check your oil pan. if it is smashed up from hitting a pot hole, or from someone using a jack on the bottom then it will restrict the oil from getting around to the oil pick up. I worked on a gsr motor with the same symptoms oil light would be off but when you started to increase rpms the light would come on. pan had been pushed up and the distance from the bottom of the pan to the bottom of the pickup was minimal. I hammered the pan down flat with a 2x4 and replaced the pickup tube/screen. solved the problem. don't know if this will be the same for you but its worth a check.
