Oil leak, please help.

I recently changed my oil, when the block off bolt dropped into the pan, I didn't notice the washer had fallen off, so I had a leak coming from my oil pan. I then relized the washer was off, and I put it back on, but I'm still getting a slight oil leak, the washer is on, and the nut is on there VERY tight, what could be the problem?

Did you replace the washer? Don't torque the drain plug down too tight, that could give you problems too.

No, I didn't replace it, I just used the same one. Everytime I change my oil, I use the same one. Yeah, I did torque it down pretty tight. Like, I can smell burning oil when I'm driving. So, you suggest replacing the washer and that should fix the problem?

Those washers crush when force is applied to it. You should NEVER reuse the washer. Once it's compressed, it's done. They are only a few cents at Honda. Pick a few up for future oil changes.

Never used the washer, had a drip or 2 here and there. Started using them, has been dry ever since.

when you buy an oil filter from honda, which i recommend, they always give you a crush washer for the drain plug. Its just a shame that an oil filter from honda here in canada is $8.

I always use a fram filter. But yeah, I should start using an OEM one.

definatley do not reuse the crush washers. and you smell burning oil because its dripping off the pan onto the header.

just drain the oil, redo the pan plug and washer, and refill.

I just did that about an hour ago, I haven't needed to drive anywhere, but I will probably drive later on tonight. Hopefully the new plug and washer will help. Thanks guys.
