you might wanna first 1) Wipe down all the oil to make it look like its fairly new 2) Drive around or let the engine idle 3) Go out and inspect the leaking oil 4) Most common problems maybe from the distrubitor o-ring, valve cover gasket, oil pan gasket, or even worse the rear main seal(this one is a bitch since you have to dismount the transmission from the engine to get to this one.

yeah, he's right, you've definately got several leaks.

with that many, best strategy is to start from the top. get the distributor o-ring,VTEC solenoid and a VC gasket kit (may as well). after putting those on, clean everything real well (including the transmission and suspension components that are oily) with either engine degreaser or a pressure washer or breakparts cleaner... you're choice.

because they are tough to get to compared to others, hold off on the rear main and cam/crank seals. they also tend to go really well with a new clutch and t-belt kit respectively, so prepare finacially.

do the oil pan gasket (more of an 0-ring type) and get a good drain plug and new washer. (that's terrible looking...)

the critical part to knowing if you've fixed all leaks is to thouroghly clean after each seal replacement.

Sure, that'll fix your problem... get rid of your engine which runs fine i assume, for an older version of the same thing. yeah, they have their differences, but the two motors are extremely similar. Is Y8 more prone to leaking oil than the Z6? i've never put that to the test.. but to suggest that having oil leaks is grounds for changing your motor: bogus.

let's work on helpful advice, not some theories your friends had.

It looks like rear main seal to me... why do i say this? my car has the same leak on the oil pan, however see that little hole on the lowest portion of the transmission? I don't have any oil coming out of there. My transmission side is dry.

Another thing, my mechanic buddy told me that if it was leaking from the main seal it would be all over the car, as in your case. I guess this is because when theres increased oil pressure (hwy driving) alot more will come out.

I have been convinced that my rear main seal and crank seal were leaking (this all started after a 7$ bottle of engine flush at Wal-Mart (Risolone?)) However, after seeing your pics I feel my car may only be leaking at the oil pan. and not the rear main seal (wishful thinking? maybe).

I registered just to share this with you, hopefully it helps you as much as your pics may have helped me, thanks.

I have the same engine, and mine as well leaks! I have narrowed mine to the distributor O-ring. With age, it becomes extremely dry. When I took mine off it snapped. If you have a lot of oil on and near the transmission area, this is probably your culprit. But, yeah I agree with the above post: to give your engine and transmission a good cleaning. The "stealership" once recommended an engine washing, but you can do it yourself!
