Default Oil Leak

So I went to do an oil change today, popped the hood and noticed that oil was leaking out of the head. There is like a little black plastic cap looking thing and oil is leaking out from around it. Does anyone know what this piece is or if something is supposed to be attached to it? Its on a b20b motor. If looking at it from the front, its located on the left side towards the front.

Take a pic.

I am wondering if your head gasket is leaking oil.

He's talking about the cam plug guys.

Some aftermarket plugs like the one pictured below are supposed
to seal better than the OE units.

Well, my assumption was that he went to get an oil change. He didn't perform the service. He paid someone to do it. So the lube tech might have forgotten to tighten up the oil cap. I've done that before when I was a tech at Honda.

In that first pic you can see the oil actually on the bottom of that circular black thing. I dont know what it is, if its cam thing or not. I know what an oil cap is though and i know its not that but could be lol it is plastic. Anyways, is it sealable or do I need to add something to it? If I can seal it what do i use?

Looks like you're leaking for while. And valve cover gasket kit? Head gasket? I would clean your block off and see what else is leaking.

It's a cam seal. Cheap to replace. Make sure you use some Honda bond when installing it. Clean up the block first to see what else might be leaking.

Leaking elsewhere? Is there anything inside or is it just the housing? I know its only leaking from that plastic piece. In replacing the cam seal, I dont have to open the head gasket or anything like that do i? I had a bad experience with a head gasket on a 00 mustang and I swore to never do it again.

Yeah that's what i used on my old 16. I know for sure I have brake cleaner outside that's why I asked. Here's a dumb question for the smart... Can I order acura parts at a honda dealership? Reason I ask, I have like 10 Honda dealerships to every 1 Acura in my area.

Sure you can. Just cross reference the part numbers.

Do you have to remove the head gasket to get to the cam seal? I was thinking I could seal it from the outside, is that not correct? Why is everyone saying a degreaser? How will that stop the oil from leaking? I dont wanna clean it if its going to come back kinda defeats purpose of cleaning it.

It does seem that simple, an external job.

To clean the block so you know its the ONLY thing leaking... and for the one asking for "winter" because I need to make a list of small ****(leaks, electrical) to fix over the winter.. I have a 97 DX I drive daily and through the winter here in Ohio.
