so i changed my oil the other day for the first time on my new hatch(not first time ever changing oil, just on this car)and had a heck of a time getting the oil filter off.i got it off finally, drained my oil, put new filter back on, filled with oil, started car.
now, it was fine for about 10 seconds then i heard this strange noise and shut my car down. OIL EVERYWHERE. it was coming from all around my oil filter. i then tightened to filter as tight as i could with my hands(literally hurt my hand), restarted the car and same thing.
my question is: i have always heard that you shouldn't ever tighten your oil filter with an oil filter wrench...but i think that may be my only option. has anyone ever had this problem before? how did you fix it? im headed out of town till thursday but need thing up and runnign when i get back. any help is much appreciated. thanks in advance.

check your old filter make sure the old rubber gasket is still there. if its still on the car and you jus put the new filter on it causes a "double gasket" and the oil leaks out from in between the gaskets when the oil pressure rises.
