Default Oil on the exhaust pipe.

My D16y8 has been leaking here for awhile and I figure It's time to take a look at it but I am not sure what could be leaking in the area.

The oil is leaking directly onto the exhaust pipe right underneath the intake manifold somewhere. What do you guys think would be leaking in that area? I have already been informed my oil pan gasket is leaking, but I don't think that has anything to do with my exhaust pipe being covered in oil.

Could be your oil pan, oil filter, oil pressure sensor, head, or valve cover. Doubling up the gasket on oil filters is really easy to do by mistake, that would be a good place to start looking. Your best bet is to get back there with a can of degreaser, a rag, and a flashlight, clean the **** out of the back of your motor, take it for a quick spin around the block, then get back under there and look for the fresh oil.

I had a leak under my intake manifold, ended up replacing my pcv valve, grommet into the black box, and the black box o-ring into the block. Usually though with older d series motors, a leak below that leaks onto the exhaust is a rear main seal. If it's leaking between the oil pan and trans once you clean it off like mentioned above, its a rear main seal. Best of luck diagnosing the problem!
