So I'm pretty sure there is oil leaking from behind my distributor...

How easy is this to fix?
I believe it's a simple gasket, should I get an OEM one or can I run to Autozone and pick one up?

Messing with the distributor can interfere with my ignition timing, so how can I do this most accuratly?

There is an O-ring that seals the distributor houshing and the head. Just pick one up from autozone. just scribe a line across the dist. housing and the head so you can re-align it when you re install it.

Heres another quick question that I really need answered too...

Current OEM radiator has started leaking around the top tank.
I originally wanted to just seal it back up, but I was informed I'd better just replace it and save myself some headache....

Can I snactch up one of these ebay guys and be good to go for a few years?

Same thing happened to my radiator. Just replace it. Thats just a temp. solution IMO. I prefer an OEM just for the assurance when it comes to things like that. I got mine from a junkyard for $25 off a 99 EX.

Oh so you snatched it up from a junkyard?

Well when you look at it like that you gotta do this type of comparison:

Used OEM w/ Miles on it vs. New OEM-spec Aftermarket

I think it's a toss-up as to which one will survive longer since we know the USED OEM may eventually go down just like the first one did. And what do we do if we need something more than a temporary solution? 2yrs considered temporary?

Indeed you are right, it is a toss up. Oem replicas vs Used Oem. To me theres always something fishy about Ebay brand replicas. Most replicas average $60-80 and the one your looking at is $35 tops. I personally feel more comfortable gambling with an Oem product used and inspected in person. Btw my radiator gave out because my tstat needed replacement. Be sure to check yours before you replace your radiator.

How did your thermostat affect your radiator?


and what can I do to "check" mines?

i don't know how a thermo would affect a radiator, but if your worried about yours then just replace it. they're pretty cheap. oh, as for the gasket i would go with oem. you can't go wrong!

Well I'm not worried about the thermo just the radiator. and I'd love to upgrade to a performace one with metal tanks but I don't think it'll end up being a worthwhile investment for me.

Would you order an OEM thermo from online/dealership or grab one from Autozone/Advanced Auto/Napa?

yeah we've already established that.

I went to the local Honda dealer and they didn't have the o-ring in stock. I haven't ordered it yet either. Autozone didn't have it either...

Last comment since theres two topics in one. Thermostat allows for coolant to circulate. Mines got stuck. Never noticed because all my drives were local and short. Took a vacation trip oneday from Houston to San Antonio. On the way back my car was over heating, checked it and found my radiator cracked up around the cap area. Since your replacing the radiator just thought Id give a friendly suggestion as a precaution. http://www.ehow.com/how_7683_t....html

No not at all. I think I'd notice a misfire tho if one came up... I had one once not too long ago after messin with the dizzy's rotor button or somethin... but I haven't been misfiring since.

Just bogging down; After car has been turned off and sat for a while the engine wants to bog down when i try to drive off. (Backs up fine tho) Usually happens at the rpm drop of the shift from 1st to 2nd.
Thats my main problem right now... the oil leak is just something I was wondering about the other day.
