oil burning

oil burning
I am new to this forum, I just bought a 2000 civic si with a D16Y8 engine and 5 spd. I did an oil change because I didn't know when it was done last, since the oil change it seems to burn oil, but only for the first few minutes of driving when cold. Once warmed up it all seems fine. Looking for any advice on where to start checking for the possible problem. Thanks in advance

Re: oil burning
I have the '97 D16Y7, and the head was rebuilt, but it still burns oil. It sounds louder than my '95.
Anyway, if not valve stem seals... The block parts could be worn; piston rings... or whatever.
Right?

Re: oil burning
Thanks for the suggestions, I'll check on the valve seals this weekend. It sounds like the first place to start, makes sense and easiest place to start as well.
